If you find your ball in the woods, it is unplayable. If a professional finds his ball in woods, not only is it playable but he can hit it onto the green.

Sam and Harry are playing one day. On the first hole, Sam hits a wicked slice into the adjoining fairway. The ball hits another player right between the eyes and he drops to the ground.
Sam and Harry rush over to the prostrate man and find him unconscious with the ball laying on the ground between his legs.
Sam screams, "Oh my God, what should I do?"
Harry replies; "Don't move him. If you leave him there he becomes an immovable obstruction and, according to the rules, you are allowed a drop two club-lengths away."

One of the most difficult shots to play on the golf course is a Downhill Lie, the correct technique is to have the body weight more on the left foot at the set up position, this is if you are a right handed golfer. Try and have your shoulders on the same angle as the slope the ball is lying on, the ball will normally fly a little lower so take one club less, for example if you would normally use a 8 iron from the position your in, then try it with a 9 iron. The ball position should also be a little further back in the stance to help you make contact with the ball first, one of the most common faults with this shot is hitting the ground first to far behind the ball, the reason for this is the body weight is not enough on the left side, "when swinging try and keep the weight more on the left foot".

When the ball is on a Uphill Lie the technique is the to have your body weight more on the right foot, this is if you are a right handed golfer. Once again try and have the shoulders on the same angle as the slope, the ball will normally fly a little higher so it is better to take a extra club. For example use a 7 iron instead of an 8 iron. The ball position should be a little further forward in the stance this will help you to make better contact with the ball. When swinging try and keep the weight more on the right foot.
With both of these shots I would advise that you swing a little shorter and slower, this will help you maintain a good balance throughout the swing. So when your faced with this shot on the course try and remember these points and I am sure it will help you. Good Luck!!!
